Project Life 2014 Cover Page

Project Life 2014 Cover Page

Here goes my Project Life Cover Page for 2014 (Digital).

This year I am attempting to start documenting my life using Project Life. I vow not to be bound by any rules surrounding the documentation. I will just let my experiences dictate how I document memories. I am making a fearless forecast that I will be going digital for most part if I want to succeed at the documentation. I just need to start planning ahead and think how I am going to collate the pages at the end of the year.

My # 3 for Himig Handog 2013 – Tamang Panahon

Reminiscent of an Ogie Alcasid style of music.
Written and Performed by Wynn Andrada

Darating ba ang pagkakataon
Heto na ba ang tamang panahon
Kung saan hindi magwawalay
Kung saan hindi mag-aaway
Sana naman lalo tayong tumibay

Kailan kaya tayo magiging isa

Kailan kaya tayo magiging isa

Walang hanggan … walang hanggan … walang hanggan

My # 2 for Himig Handog 2013 – One Day

Written by: Agatha Obar Marallos
Interpreted by: Angeline Quinto

One day I will remember
That day when you said goodbye
One day while the world is sleeping tight
One day you will see me smile

One day you will remember
That day when you left my side
One day in the silence of the night
One day I will be alright

I recall when you said you love me so
I remember you said you’ll never go

One day I will remember
A love that I’ve always known
One day you will know the reason why
You will stay forever in my heart

I recall when you said you love me so
I remember you said you’ll never go

One day you will know the reason why
You will stay forever in my heart

I recall when you said you love me so
I remember you said you’ll never go
I’ll be stronger, stronger than before
Ohhh now it’s over
Can I see your face once more

My # 1 for Himig Handog 2013 – If You Ever Change Your Mind

This is my pick for this year’s Himig Handog. Written and sang by a graduating college student from Ateno going against the big names in music writing.

I wish she gets a chance to make more original music. I would be definitely be buying her album.  Here is the lyrics to the song.

There was once a time
When I thought of no one else but you
You’d look into my eyes
And I’d see the whole world in front of me

We were perfect for each other
No one else would dare compare, no
Thought that we were steadfast
But feelings don’t last, oh no, no

But if you ever change your mind,
Don’t you dare come back to me cryin’
“I want you back again”
‘Cause though what we had was more than fine
I needed someone who would love me
More than he loved himself

You said you’d never lie
That you’d never make me cry, my dear
Did you mean every word you said
Or were you messin’ with my head all these years?

Were we perfect for each other
Or was this all just pretend, oh?
Seems it ended so fast
But feelings don’t last, oh no, no

But if you ever change your mind
Don’t you dare come back to me cryin’
“I want you back again”
‘Cause though what we had was more than fine
I needed someone who would love me
More than he loved himself
More than he loved himself
Himself, himself

But if you ever change your mind
Don’t you dare come back to me cryin’
“I want you back again”
‘Cause though what we had was more than fine
I needed someone who would love me
More than he loved himself

Obama Wins US Elections?

I will make a stand, I believe Obama will serve a second term as US President.  I don’t really understand how the process goes as far as electing a President but my gut tells me he will come out the winner this time.

Here is an entry from Wikipedia on the conduct of the US ElectionsThe election of the President and the Vice President of the United States is an indirect vote in which citizens cast ballots for a slate of members of the U.S. Electoral College; these electors in turn directly elect the President and Vice President.

The popular vote on Election Day

Under the United States Constitution, the manner of choosing electors for the Electoral College is determined by each state’s legislature. Although each state currently designates electors by popular vote, other methods are allowed. For instance, a number of states formerly chose presidential electors by a vote of the state legislature itself.

However, federal law does specify that all electors must be selected on the same day, which is “the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November,” i.e. a Tuesday no earlier than November 2 and no later than November 8.[6] Today, the states and the District of Columbia each conduct their own popular elections on Election Day to help determine their respective slate of electors. Thus, the presidential election is really an amalgamation of separate and simultaneous state elections instead of a single national election run by the federal government.

Like any other election in the United States, the eligibility of an individual for voting is set out in the Constitution and regulated at state level. The Constitution states that suffrage cannot be denied on grounds of race or color, sex or age for citizens eighteen years or older. Beyond these basic qualifications, it is the responsibility of state legislatures to regulate voter eligibility.

Generally, voters are required to vote on a ballot where they select the candidate of their choice. The presidential ballot is a vote “for the electors of a candidate” meaning that the voter is not voting for the candidate, but endorsing a slate of electors pledged to vote for a specific Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate.

Many voting ballots allow a voter to “blanket vote” for all candidates in a particular political party or to select individual candidates on a line by line voting system. Which candidates appear on the voting ticket is determined through a legal process known as ballot access. Usually, the size of the candidate’s political party and the results of the major nomination conventions determine who is pre-listed on the presidential ballot. Thus, the presidential election ticket will not list every candidate running for President, but only those who have secured a major party nomination or whose size of their political party warrants having been formally listed. Laws are in effect to have other candidates pre-listed on a ticket, provided that enough voters have endorsed the candidate, usually through a signature list.

The final way to be elected for president is to have one’s name written in at the time of election as a write-in candidate. This is used for candidates who did not fulfill the legal requirements to be pre-listed on the voting ticket. It is also used by voters to express a distaste for the listed candidates, by writing in an alternative candidate for president such as Mickey Mouse or comedian Stephen Colbert (whose application was voted down by the South Carolina Democratic Party). In any event, a write-in candidate has never won an election for President of the United States.

Fresh Dalandan Juice, Anyone?

The house is filled with the virus, at first it was the two kids who were hit.  It lasted for about a week with fever, cough, colds and low to no appetite at all.  Then I got it for several days.  Luckily for me it was one of those three day weekends.

So I took it upon myself to make fresh juice. These days Dalandan (Philippine Orange, which is actually color green) is in season.  We buy it in bulk of at least five kilos at a time.  And so for the last few days I have been serving fresh Dalandan juice every meal time.  Three out of four love it, Zach does not like the sour taste.

Here is my recipe for producing at least a liter of fresh Dalandan juice:

Buy the freshest Dalandan fruit that you can.  Choose the very green ones.  Depending on where you buy it, it can cost anywhere from P20 to P40 per kilo. Buying it from our usual fruit stand it costs us P40 per kilo.  But tonight we went to the Binan Public market and we were able to get it for just P20 per kilo.  That’s 100% mark up!  But I digress.

Cut it in half after washing.

I do the manual way of extracting the  juice.  About 25 pieces can yield the 1 liter of juice.

The juice extracted is usually very sour.  So by trial and error, depending on the sourness, I found that one part fresh juice and one part water mixed together can dilute the sour taste.  I add sugar syrup according to taste. I usually like it on the sweeter side.

Viola here is a glass of fresh Dalandan juice for you.

NOTE:

Sugar does not mix easily with the juice so you might be adding more sugar to make it sweeter and only to find out near the bottom of your glass that some sugar would remain undissolved.  Preparing the sugar syrup in advance will definitely help because it mixes easily with the juice extract.

To prepare your sugar syrup, just put one part sugar and one part water.  Bring to a simmer and just mix until the liquid becomes clear and you can no longer see any sugar crystals.  Let it cool and you can put it in a container and store in the ref for a few days.

November 30 Days Challenge – NO Torrent Downloads

I am fond of challenges. So last month, I started with 30 day challenges. My first order was to leave Facebook alone for 30 days. And I was successful. So I wanted to continue the momentum by doing another for the month of November. Since I was introduced to torrent downloads, I have been literally downloading hordes of files (movies, songs, books, magazines, audiobooks & tv shows). So I want to stop this addiction of downloading. I have more than enough books and movies to last me for a year at least. And I can do with watching less of the tv shows that i am currently following. I will miss the shows but I know I can watch them in December. They say it takes at least 21 days to create a new habit, let’s wait and see.
